HOW TO STAY CONNECTED

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 HOW TO STAY CONNECTED 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

“The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.”― Rachel Naomi Remen

With our country and the world taking measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus, it’s become more important than ever before to find ways to stay connected while staying at home.

📝 Write a letter

When did you last pick up a pen and paper to write a letter to someone, if ever in today’s modern world?
It’s super powerful to write down our experiences because our brains engage and remember our stories more easily.
Nothing beats that personal touch of someone’s handwriting, it indicates they have really taken the time to connect with you.
Write a letter to your loved ones and see how you could have a hugely positive impact on their day.

📞 Pick up the phone

A phone call allows you to really listen to someone. One of the key factors in communication is listening. Make sure there are no distractions and take the time to really hear what each other have got to say. Just picking the phone up to a loved one will do wonders for you both in these hard times.

📲 Zoom and other similar apps

These platforms are fantastic for when you want to communicate with several people at a time. They are also great for hosting quizzes, fitness classes, cooking classes and dance classes. A lot of these apps are offering free trials for their premium packages at the moment to help you make the most of what they have to offer.

📧 Send an email

Similar to writing a letter, when did you last send an email to someone you loved?
If you are wanting to send a letter to a family member who may live abroad, sending an email will undoubtedly be faster than a letter and it will allow you to share stories and connect with others at the tap of a keyboard and click of a mouse.

💻 Social media

Love it or hate it social media is a fantastic platform for keeping interactive and staying in touch. With the ability to share videos, photos, discussions, memories, memes and messages it really is an easy way to keep up with the world and your loved ones. With tools to filter your feed and edit your privacy settings there’s no reason why your chosen social media channel(s) can’t bring you some positivity to your day. Just make sure you limit time spent on it to avoid just “scrolling”.
